What is a homestay? Isn’t a homestay the same as sharing space with other people in a private home or other type of accommodation? Well, sort of. According to homestay.com, a homestay is defined as “staying in a spare room of a real home while the homeowner is there.” The key is while the homeowner is there versus sharing space in a house without the homeowner present. Homestays are also classified differently than a Bed and Breakfast, where a traveler is expected to be provided breakfast in addition to securing a room for the night, whereas a homestay arrangement does not necessarily include any meals.
